Saturday Sneak Peek - watercolors

abstract wisteria - it is looking good in real life.
I so need a new camera - these colors look muddy, but in real life they aren't!  The greens aren't yellow and there is just a nice light blue wash - not gray, and not pastel blue...

Blending practice

Still not a great image - I don't understand why the camera is graying the pictures so and am not going to take the time to adjust!  But I hope you enjoy anyway...

3 Praying Girls...In The Studio Friday

Some of what I've been working on this week...a series on praying girls...

Actually, "Guard Your Heart" is an older piece, and I have another piece - "She Gathered Hope" that was a companion.  I always intended to do a third - "Where Does My Help Come From" - and I am working on it (it will be the middle).  I am doing a reproduction of "She Gathered Hope" as the original sold and my photos for prints just aren't turning out the way I wanted...so I will finish the series AND get good photos before the originals are sold!

Sneak Peek: WIP + This and That

I learned about and played with "Book Spine Poetry" (book titles are the lines of the poem)

A peek at a work in progress...I am planning a series of paintings inspired by a book I am reading: "The Discovery of Genesis".  The book traces how the accounts of Creation in the book of Genesis is embedded in the characters of the Chinese language - I find it very exciting...this will be my first character to highlight....
This will be the background - sorry it is a little blurry.  Since it is still just a WIP, I think I'm okay with a little blur...{smiles}.  Check back next Friday for the finished product ♥

4pcs Hand Blown Hollow Glass Beads-Near Round Clear with Big Hole 26x23mm

Here are the supplies I am ordering for yet another idea that sweet tweener and her friends have inspired this summer - they come from Canada, so it may be a couple of weeks before the project gets complete!  Stay tuned!

Sneak Peak Friday - Mixed Industrial Angel wip

Remember these?

and this.....
(the flowers got obscured)

They are turning into this:
Sorry about the flash glare!
She doesn't have a face yet...
she may not get one...
have you ever read C.S. Lewis's "Till We Have Faces"?

Guardian 1 - almost there...

StudioJRU

We are in the full swing of school now, it seems our days have settled into a predictable pattern, and this year, I find I have time to do more creating during the school day!  So I have gotten the chance to work on this painting...

Remember the beginning?

And a little further along...

Here is the progress...

still some shading work do be done on the face + finishing the hair...I have really loved creating this piece...I have focused on the wings for about two weeks...I knew something was "wrong" and finally I saw it (have you ever had to walk away from a project multiple times in order to really see it with fresh eyes?)  If you look at the 2nd picture as compared to this one, you can see that the left wing was adjusted...after adding the smaller top feathers - it was clear that the angle I had it going just looked awkward...so I swirled a fresh rainbow of acrylics over the entire wing, obliterating it (that was a growth experience for this recovering perfectionist!) and I adjusted the color of the lips...  I have played with many more layers of shading in the face than I usually use - she is the most realistic face I have attempted.

And as I have painted this week, God has talked to me about perfection - His definition.  I have had His voice whispering about the great war in heaven when a third of the angels fell...I have heard things about the guardian angels we each have assigned over us - actually, He has been gently confronting long held assumptions of mine...
and I will share all that next week when I hopefully post the finished work!

Blessings to each of you!

Sneak Peak Friday...Projects in waiting...

Like "Ladies in Waiting", these projects rest in my studio/office, waiting for me
to touch,
to begin,
to see what is now hidden,
to hear the Creator give a commission to begin...
Found at a yard sale - I negotiated down to $3...it is 20x24 (not including the frame) and I think if the flowers show through the background it will be very cool...

I look,
as many times as I walk in and out of that room,
waiting for Him to give the inspiration.
Another find at the same sale - another $3 - 36 x 35 inches not including frame...it will make another wonderful background!
A closeup of the texture...the colors are really the colors of dawn or dusk (silly lighting in the studio/office!)

I think He enjoys "thinking" about it, too,
but He already sees the finished piece,
He just likes it when we "think" together,
not always lingering like this,
yet it is His delight to do so now.

Quiet times of study
don't always have to be IN the Word,
to be infused BY the Word!

Blocks waiting to be turned into this from Dayspring since I don't have $50 at the moment, but I do have paint and images and fonts from the computer!

And on other matters...I was delighted to figure out how to place custom "follow" buttons like these on the website
