Here it is at the top...(still have some finishing touches to put on the "El" painting!)
Above is the piece I am stuck on...I have repainted it twice....trying to get a swirly design, like the blue is swirling up and exploding with white and red and the resulting shades of purple - the text is the definition of compassion, which I do want to keep as a main component..but I don't know - I walk away and come back to it...I have started moving on to the other pieces in the grouping just to see if I can gain perspective...On one day I thought about how van Gogh did his starry night piece, and thought maybe that technique - white strokes over what I already had might give it the touch it needs!
Please share your ideas! I wish I could say that I will offer a prize from a random drawing for all ideas...oh, wait a minute...I guess I can! But it will have to be a surprise! So, if you leave an idea of how to fix this "compassion" piece in the comments, I will select a winner on Tuesday - March 15th - OK? I appreciate all of your creative input!

Oh dear...I feel so horrid...I'm clueless as to how to fix it...I was thinking Wow, look at all that work...then read further to see you're not happy. =( I have no clue...but hopefully someone will come along with a bright idea to help you out!

Wow! I'm stumped....maybe blurr it out some more? But overall I think it is looking great!
You talked about your work space being a mess. I know for me, it helps me think, kinda refreshed the brain when I clean up my work mess....and mine can get REALLY messy! Just a thought...

Wow, what a complicated piece! It's looking really good though! I don't know, you could try hazing it out by blending the darker blue with white or use a lighter blue color. I think you just need some more different tones of blue and you would have it. Good luck!
Ok... you have seen my space today... yours is NOT a mess at all! lol Wow, what a composition. 13 pieces! On the rest of the pieces the colors blend and fade and have softer edges. I think maybe this one could use a bit more of that. But really... it is all looking wonderful. Can not wait to see it complete!
you need a different tool ... not a brush ... work on this piece in the kitchen with only the paint in hand and you will uncover the right tool to give you that swirl effect
I don't see a problem with that piece...since it is part of many others, it is working very well as the focal point...don't worry about it so much. Just keep going and it'll come to you.
You know, the swirl reminds me of a baby all bundled up, safe and sound, fast asleep in her mother's arms. Incredible peaceful.
Talk about a very ambitious project! My suggestion would be to get into the blue again with that same color and a little bit of white (separte-not mixed)and make swirling, round strokes with your finger(or cotton ball or soft sponge), starting from the inside of the blue part of your painting and working out, using lighter pressure as you move out. Probably easier said than done! Good luck. You're going to have quite a masterpiece when you'refinished!! ~Shari :)
