Check out these projects!
You know I have an 8 year old fledgling....and any of you who have little girls (or not so little girls!) might enjoy this post by Sharon Tomlinson of AllNorahsArt. Especially check out the Castle Towers - wouldn't this make a great art activity for girls of all ages?!

It is certainly difficult to keep carpets clean and especially hall way ones.
Painting the concrete floor sounds a great idea. I think you can get quite a few different colours.
