The days of Lent...
days of examining our hearts...
days of sacrificing some small, ordinary part of our lives,
so that we can more fully participate in His sacrifice,
so that we can die to self and be raised up to live for Him...
the days of Lent remind us that it isn't just for 40 days that we are to live this way...
He meant it to be a way of life every day...
And isn't this the message of Lent?
Living in reality, in the reality of our failures, our fears, our frailty?
And using these to come again and again to Him to cry "I need You, please forgive me!"
I have loved reading other's Lenten journals, tho'
I have not been walking any particular Lenten journey myself this year...
just simply trying to live in the path He has put before me...
a place at His side...
to learn to "celebrate" the way He defines it...
This morning, I found His surprise for me,
His gift assuring me that I am still journeying by His side...
His sign...the sign of the cross...and this one is crowned...
"And where did you find such a treasure," you may ask?
In the brown and dirt and grime and filth of life in this world...
Isn't this where we can always find Him?

Thanks for your lovely comment....such interesting info. Sounds like you are having lots of fun.
oh my. what a gift to your heart today. and in the grime. This is the first year for me to even know what Lent was. I was raised in a southern baptist church and we didn't really talk in depth about Lent. I wished we would have. I can now. I have been reading through Ann's Trail to the Tree...which I love. It starts in Genesis..of course:) Next year I will be better prepared. and yes...I agree. It is a way of life everyday. Maybe that is to be the desire of my heart during this Lent to make it an everyday..thankyou for linking today Cindy:) Your words ALWAYS move me forward
xo
smiles. love those neat little reminders when we find them...even in the most unusual places...it is a daily journey...
wowee! This is so cool. Cindi, I love your eyes; I just love how you see and celebrate Him everywhere. By the way, I linked to your Zephaniah 3:17 post this week.
Cindy, nice perspective. I always knew you used your coffee maker religiously! Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
I often have spirtual moments involving coffee.

Thank you so much for this today. I haven't really participated in Lent this year, but still seek sacrifice in the every day.
This has blessed my so much today. Especially the cross. I hope you find some time to check out my cross. Easter Blessings!
This is amazing -- I mean, I am just floored by this. First that you noticed it and then your revelation that yes, it is normally in the dirt and grime that we find him. Perfectly wonderful!

i love this. i love that you are content to walk side by side him, to learn... you remind me of martha's sister, mary, sitting at Jesus' feet... how i want to be like this, friend. xo
